Our friends at Urban Chestnut Brewing are really starting to hit their stride. Now that they have been open for a few months, they are starting to make their presence known with some fine beer festivals.
The first, Hopfenfest, was held in March and featured hop growers from the Hallertau region of Bavaria. They shared samples of the different hops they grow, were there to talk to beer aficionados, and even brought the 2011 Hop Queen. Marketing28 provided logos and poster design, along with the logo for the commemorative sampling glass. We also provided our thirst for excellent beer. I mean seriously, have you tried UCBC’s beer? Good stuff.
The next Urban Chestnut festival is May 15, 2011 from 1-5 PM and is their interpretation of Maifest. Maifest is one of mankind’s oldest traditions, the celebration of nature’s bright reawakening after winter’s cold darkness. The ancient pagan festival later took on Christian religious significance but is now a colorful, joyous part of history and culture.
Maifest will feature a couple of Bavarian favorites for this time of year: Bockbiers. Bockbiers are perfect for the brief Spring transition between the severe winters along the northern edge of the Alps, when people hunker down indoors, and the hot summers, when people flock to the biergartens. Urban Chestnut will also have live music and BBQ.
Wondering why we have a goat in the poster? The Bavarian word for ‘goat’ is ‘bock’. Ah, all the pieces fall into place.
Marketing28 has again provided art for posters, commemorative tasting glasses, fliers, and t-shirts. No advance tickets are needed, but we do suggest you stop by and quench your thirst on May 15, 2011 from 1-5 PM. We’ll be there!
